UW Undergraduate Research Symposium – Visual Arts + Design Showcase

The UW Undergraduate Research Symposium welcomes submissions for its Visual Arts & Design Showcase.

The Undergraduate Research Symposium is one of the largest events of its kind nationwide, with more than 1,000 students presenting their scholarly work through posters, talks, artistic performances and now in its third year, an art and design exhibit. We are pleased to partner with Odegaard Undergraduate Library to provide a forum for art and design students to display their creative and scholarly work.

The Visual Arts & Design Showcase will run concurrently with the 20th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, May 19. An opening session will occur on May 19, during which all artists will share their work with a public audience. Digital or A/V works are welcomed, and can be exhibited during the opening session. All other art and design works – including paintings, illustrations, photographs, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, architectural models, and more – will remain on display for two weeks.

Submissions are encouraged from students pursuing a major or minor in the School of Art, College of Built Environments, or Digital Arts and Experimental Media. A juried selection process will choose submissions based upon academic rigor and quality, content, and space available.

To apply, visit the online application system: https://expo.uw.edu/expo/apply/446.

To check out last year’s presenters, go to: https://expo.uw.edu/expo/apply/398/proceedings/offering_session/715.

Applications are due Monday, February 13. You will be prompted to submit photos, dimensions, and display needs for the art and design work you would like to display in the Showcase after you submit your application.
