SECURE BICYCLE PARKING AT LINK LIGHT RAIL STATIONS

WEBSITE

This project provides recommendations for secure bicycle parking at selected Link Light Rail stations in Seattle in an effort to encourage multimodal transit use consisting of bicycles and the light rail. Specifically, this project identifies best practices of secure bicycle parking that can be implemented at the UW Husky Stadium Station and the future Northgate Station. The project consists of case studies, a literature review, and site observations. The final product is a research paper on secure bicycle parking and a series of recommendations and design guidelines for the selected stations. This project aims to prevent bicycles vandalism and theft while the owners are away on board the light rail, and to encourage more commuters to ride bicycles to access the two light rail stations.
