Kayla Carrington

Enthusiastic and passionate, Kayla brings curiosity and excitement to most outdoor learning environments. As soon as she realized the depth of her desire for an inclusionary and intentional education system, she decided to pursue Environmental Psychology in hopes to better convey the effects of nature within the landscape design of schools. Her interest in outdoor education cultivated from her involvement with an environmental school and summer camp on Bainbridge Island called Islandwood, which led to the pursuit of both a research and a teaching position at the entirely outdoor preschool named Fiddlehead Forest School (FFS). She will be using her double degree in CEP and Environmental Studies to gather knowledge and background in Environmental Psychology, working to create a fundamental body of knowledge from which landscape designers of nature schools can enrich educational experiences so that early learners can develop better cognition in a climate-changing environment.
