Immersive Arts – Summer 2017

DXARTS has a class on the Immersive Arts during Summer quarter 2017, term B (July 19-Aug 17, 2017). Classes will be held Monday-Thursday 9:30am-12:30pm in Raitt Hall, room 129.

The class will focus on stereoscopic video, virtual reality, and multi-channel systems. Students will use various display systems, production techniques, and compositional strategies to discover immersive media experience for moving-image and sound based artwork. Students will learn to produce stereoscopic 3d images, utilize multi-channel and sound systems, and be introduced to 3D modeling, game engine, and VR hardware.

Primary course goals are:

– To develop an art historical foundation for our inquiry
– To conduct experiments through in-class labs
– To produce and present a final project
