Due to the generosity of the CEP community, “Get to Know Our Neighbors: Sweeps and Homelessness Q&A” was a huge success. Thanks to the alumni and all those who have donated to CEP, this event was able to reach a wide audience and bridge a vital gap in the community. Students, faculty, and members of the community were given the opportunity to engage in a crucial dialogue with residents of the Jungle, the Field, and Tent City 3, so that we could hear the stories of citizens whose voices are most marginalized. Our guests shared their perspectives and experiences on many topics starting with how they became homeless to the pressing needs present in their communities and the city’s controversial sweeps. CEP kicked off a supply drive at the event to raise money and supplies for Tent City 3. The supply drive will run through the month of December and all donations will go to Tent City 3, arriving on UW’s campus on December 17th.
